Be Still and Know...

“Be Still and Know…”

Have you played hide and seek lately?

If you have little ones, chances are good you have. Their precious giggles usually give their hiding spot away. It’s so hard to be VERY still when you are excited!

I’ll never forget the time I hid in the closet in my house growing up. I had the perfect spot!  It was hard to get tucked back in behind all the card tables and chairs without making noise but, I did it!  I could hear the joyful screams as each hider was being found and I was basking in my hiding prowess. But, I was hiding there a long time!  And eventually, all the happy voices were gone, and it was dark, and I was alone, and I was scared!

Isn’t this like life at times? Everything is going great then something happens.  That’s why scriptures remind us to “fear not” over 300 times throughout the Word.  But, fear, anxiety, and depression are hard to deal with on your own! God tells us in Psalms 46:10 … Be Still and Know that He is God…He knows your situation… He knows where you are hiding… He knows you are scared…Trust Me He says… I am God!

He doesn’t forget about us and move on to someone or something more important …He is there in the dark, and asks us to cry out to Him!  Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.

Last year, I was getting ready for an elective surgery to replace my right knee with a “bionic” one. Woohoo!  I admit, I was a bit frightened at the prospects of what could happen.  As I was laying there all alone on the uncomfortable table, with a big X on the good knee and the docs initials on the bad knee, the thought came to mind, “Be still and know”… God had this!

How are things with you?  It seems every family has something scary going on these days.  Now, my deal wasn’t life-threatening but yours might be.  I don’t know what I would have done without Jesus  and His promises.  God has so many texts that remind us that He’s there, that He cares, and He wants to still the storm in your heart too!   Seek Him, wait for Him, and He will deliver you too!
